Island Jerk

I waited about an hour and a half for curry goat and oxtail. I would definitely return, it was worth the wait. They have a sign with a disclaimer at the front of the restaurant that says the food is authentic and not fast food, so I was prepared to wait. I also had a spinach patty and beef patty as an appetizer while I waited. Some of the best Jamaican food I have had anywhere in the U.S. There is also a smoothie vendor inside the restaurant with very delicious products. Highly recommend, just wouldn’t take a chance if I were in a big hurry.

The mango–strawberry slush is amazing. I had the goat with rice and it was cooked to perfection. The downside of this place is that it lacks a bit of organization. It was also a little chilly to sit and eat without a coat, and the prices were slightly higher than expected. Overall, though, it has a great, homemade which all make , comfort food

The food tasted amazing. Service felt friendly, attentive, truly welcoming. Portions were very generous. Even the smaller plate came loaded with Sweet n spicy chicken, rice. The larger plate was massive, more than enough for one person. Excellent value with great flavor in every bite.

Unassuming restaurant with some indoor seating. Extremely friendly and down to earth owner. Got the oxtail and Curry chicken combo with some extra plantains and it was literally 5 pounds of food (weighed it for S's and G's, lol). Food was good, would have liked it slightly more heavily spiced but the flavor was on the right track and quite enjoyable. Everything was fresh and tender. Would definitely come back here again.

Food is always fresh and great, but be prepared to wait a while. They do load the plates up so it’s kind of worth the wait lol.

2/24 Update: I love this place! Went back and got the curry chicken and it did not disappoint. We tried to order online but it didn't go through their system. DON'T TRY TO ORDER ONLINE! just call your order in. I was able to get the order canceled and pay in house. The owner is very friendly and got us our food quickly despite the online order problem. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! (Please excuse the bad picture of my LG Goat Curry. I ate it outside and the lighting was not good. You can get the gist how much food you get though!) This place is amazing! Some of the best food I've had locally in a while. This is a no frills kinda restaurant. The menu is small and not complicated. For a few dollars extra you can get a large and it's LARGE! I almost dropped my box it was so heavy. It's definitely enough for two meals. I got the LG Goat Curry. It was so delicious. I can't say enough how good everything tasted. This restaurant is more of a takeout restaurant but they do have a few tables and chairs if you wanna eat there. Though when we went, it was bumping in there! What I learned for next time was to just call in my order ahead of time. (not that it took very long to get our order but everyone else was doing it. They obviously were getting good business and I definitely know why!) Service was good also. The owner was super nice. Everything is priced well for the amazing food you get. Can't wait to come back and try the oxtails!

OMG!!! Our meal took us back to our visit to the beautiful Jamaica!!! Definitely 100% service, ambience, environment. must try!!! we had oxtail, curry chicken, and jerk chicken. Finger licking good. . Don’t take my word for it, TRY IT!!!

Just had the best curry goat and jerk chicken I've had IN YEARS. The rice and beans were amazing...slight hint of coconut. Cabbage was lightly seasoned... just right. That curry goat was fall off the bone tender...and the jerk (i got spicy) was spicy but flavorful (my nose is still running lol). Even the plantains were perfect. First time here... dont even live in Huntsville but will be back.
